Let's be honest. The idea of winning a home {no matter one's opinion on decor} would be amazing. So in honor of earth week I couldn't help but post the green home 2010. I'm sure most all of you have seen it. Admittedly, the first year they had a home, I entered daily, this year, I have yet to even try. That being said, I have admired the idea of having a home in New England {it would be a dream of mine to move there one day...at least for a short while}. I think it would be quite easy to live green in the below home, but I may have to purge most of the red found around the house {a bit too much for me...and if you're wondering, I didn't post the 'red' pics}!
But, living a green life doesn't have to commence with winning a glorious green home. It can start anywhere, anytime and with anyone. This year, my biggest green act was to plant a garden. It's already started to save us some money, but more importantly, will help cut down on trips to the store, as we like to eat fresh as much as possible. Secondly, Mister and I switched from tupperware to glass storage. {And we LOVE it!! So much easier for re-heating food and plus, it cleans up much better.}
So what about you? Have you made any green changes this year? {Or do you want to?} Would love to hear your thoughts!

I think I may go enter. I did like you and entered every day for the first one and I haven't even looked this year.
We try to do our best to live a "green" life with in our means and time constraints. Not always easy but it is a choice we have made.
Cheers~Ivy
Thanks for stopping by my blog (and commenting...I love comments)! :) You know what...I think I'm going to go have to enter too.
Don't let "means" deter you from a green life...it's amazing what one small act can do! Take care, Tali
I'm curious because I didn't see any red in the photos! Are they on the HGTV website? I love red mixed with a neutral (grey/white etc). It's so me :)!!
The House is gorgeous. I've always wanted to live in Bangor, Maine. Maybe we will someday!!!
What a gorgeous home! That makes going green very appealing. Thanks so much for your visit and comment.
my most recent change was attempting to buy local, looking whenever i buy produce or other products and try to buy as close to home as possible.
W - there are a ton of photos on their site. I've linked to it on the bottom of the post. Lots of red. :) I don't have an adversion to red...it was just a bit much for me. Kitchen counters: red, master bd room: red, outdoor furniture: red (you get the point)! xx,
Anne - You should go enter! (And if you win, you could invite me over!!!) :)
PML - great work!! Of course, you are the queen of this area. I switched to glass instead of tupperware mostly because of you!!
We use glass storage too! I bought a set from Costco and I'd love to go back and get another. I like them much more than plastic but mostly I feel better about freezing and heating in the glass vs plastic!
gorgeous. I love it. GREEN all the way always ;) Hope you had a lovely Earth Day #40 yesterday ;)
